QWO

Cellulite is a common cosmetic issue that can be frustrating for many women. These dimples and bumps on the skin don’t respond to diet and exercise. However, with innovative treatments such as QWO injections offered at Wellskin Medical Spa in Dallas, TX, you can now improve the appearance of stubborn cellulite and treat its root cause.

What Is QWO for Cellulite Treatment?

QWO injections are FDA-approved cosmetic treatments that dissolve the fibrous bands of tissues that cause cellulite in the buttocks and thighs to appear. This safe and minimally-invasive treatment targets the root cause of cellulite and offers long-term benefits. Many women choose to have this treatment to smoothen their skin and minimize the appearance of cellulite dimples and bumps.

The injections contain powerful enzymes. Without causing extended downtime, this treatment is ideal for improving the appearance of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks and thighs. A smoother, more even-looking skin is no longer an impossibility thanks to this innovative treatment.

Do You Have Cellulite?

Cellulite is a common aesthetic condition that causes dimples, lumps, and contour irregularities in the skin. Regardless of your size or weight, you can have cellulite in fatty areas of the skin. You’ll often see this happening in the buttocks, thighs, and hips.

When you have plenty of fat cells that are located just beneath the lower layers of the skin, you may notice the appearance of lumps and dimples. Fibrous bands that connect the dermis to the underlying tissues cause this dimpling, bumpy appearance. When the skin is pulled down to deeper tissue levels, cellulite eventually appears. This pulling causes collagen in the connective fibrous bands to harden and develop an uneven, dimpled, and bumpy surface.

What Are the Risk Factors for Cellulite?

Cellulite is much more common in women. Several factors can affect your chances of developing cellulite. These risk factors include inflammation, family history, hormonal changes, and poor blood circulation.

Hormone levels may also play a role in the formation of cellulite. For example, a sudden decrease in estrogen levels in aging women can affect blood flow to connective tissues, resulting in lower circulation and decreased collagen production for firm skin. Excess fat in the skin due to a diet high in fat and a sedentary lifestyle can also be culprits.

Does Body Weight Contribute to the Appearance of Cellulite?

Bodyweight does not directly cause cellulite, which is why even skinny people can develop dimples and bumps in their buttocks and thigh areas. Nevertheless, the appearance of dimpled skin due to cellulite may improve or worsen due to sudden weight changes. Normal body weight fluctuations rarely affect the appearance of cellulite, and women of all sizes and shapes can struggle with stubborn cellulite.

Can You Lose Weight To Eliminate Cellulite?

Unfortunately, making healthy food choices and living an active lifestyle are not ideal solutions for getting rid of cellulite. Because the body cannot burn cellulite fat as fuel, the dimples and bumps caused by cellulite are likely to remain in place, no matter how much weight is lost.

Diet and exercise can cause stored fat to become burned, but it rarely affects fat cells trapped in the layers of the skin. Because of this reason, cellulite can be challenging to treat with traditional methods.

How Do QWO Injections Reduce Cellulite?

QWO injections work by targeting the fibrous bands that cause cellulite to appear. The injections contain an active enzyme called collagenase. We inject this enzyme directly into the areas where stubborn cellulite appears. As soon as the fibrous bands are exposed to the enzyme, the collagen molecules that cause cellulite break down and degrade.

Additionally, to maintain the skin’s firmness, the treatment also stimulates the production of a different type of collagen that strengthens the structure of the skin, leaving you with a firmer, smoother appearance.

What Happens During the Treatment?

First, each cellulite dimple will be marked with a small dot and circled with a surgical marker. We may take photos to document the treatment and help assess the results at your next visit or treatment session. When identifying appropriate cellulite dimples for the treatment, you should be relaxed with your feet apart. The dimples should be well-defined and evident for them to qualify for the treatment.

Next, we administer QWO injections directly into the targeted areas with cellulite dimples. Topical numbing cream is not necessary for the treatment. We can only treat a certain number of cellulite dimples per session, and you can expect each cellulite dimple to be treated once. The injection process usually takes only 10 minutes.

When Will You See the Results?

The final results of the treatment can be seen about 3-4 months after your first session. Ideally, the injections are scheduled three weeks apart. A full treatment course will require a few sessions, depending on the number of cellulite dimples that need treatment. We will develop a customized treatment plan that will address your needs and preferences.

Best Candidates for Cellulite Treatment

The ideal candidates for the treatment are adult women with moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks or thighs. During your consultation, we will assess your overall health and medical history. Women who are allergic to collagenase or have active infections in the targeted areas are not supposed to receive the injections. We may also require you to stop taking blood-thinning medications for up to two weeks before the treatment.

Before scheduling you for cellulite treatment, please let us know if you have any of the following conditions:

  • Allergies
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Pregnancy (or planning to become pregnant)
  • Breastfeeding
  • Clotting disorders
